Saving Money with Portable Laser Printers

Though it is known that portable printers have yet to really exist, it is also true that printer companies are continuously developing laser printers for portable purposes. Evidence of this is the Samsung ML-1630. This printer is being sold as the best portable laser printer. However, it is very hard to see this gadget as a portable gadget considering the fact that it is larger than an inkjet printer is. Additionally, this printer weighs around 15lbs, hardly a weight that is manageable. Portable inkjet printers have now come to a point where they can easily be carried and are not a hassle to bring along trips.

Hypothetically speaking, if laser printers do come to the same point of portability as inkjet printers, you can expect to have the same advantages of having a laser printer. To be more specific, if you have a portable laser printer, you can expect to save money when using this printer.

High Yield Cartridges
The primary reason why you can save money when using laser printers is that they are cheaper when it comes to cost to print a single page. The cost to print one page using a laser printer is around 0.2 cents. When using inkjet printers, the cost is around 2 - 8 cents. In short, if you are in the business of printing books, the cost to print a book using an inkjet printer is the same as the cost of printing 10 books using a laser printer. This is partly the reason why most mass production of documents, books or mails are done using laser printers.

Toner Save Options
Laser printers nowadays have toner save options that allow them to double the capacity of their toner cartridges. However, the quality of prints will not be the same as when you are not using the toner save option. It is similar to printing drafts when using inkjet printers. If you need to print documents that do not have to be at the utmost quality, then you can save money by opting to print in toner save mode. However, if you need to produce professional documents, it would be best to use the high quality option. However, in this case, it will still be cheaper than using inkjet printers.

Internal Batteries
Laser printers are known to consume more energy because it has an additional stage in its printing process where it uses a heating element in order to fuse the ink to the paper. However, if portable laser printers have gained the use of internal batteries, it means that they can save on electricity by utilizing the power in their internal batteries. You can charge them when you are not using them. This does not mean though that they will use the same energy as inkjet printers. They still need more energy. However, because of the existence of internal batteries, they can minimize the need to be plugged in all the time. If portable inkjet printers can print around 480 pages on a fully charged battery, one can expect to go at around 200 for a portable laser printer.

Clearly, using a portable laser printer is very advantageous in a sense that you can save money with it. However, that is only after you purchase it. You can expect these things to be more expensive than inkjet printers can. Besides, if these printers come cheap, no one would buy inkjet printers anymore.
